Natural Topical Sprays & Skin Oils

Sometimes the fastest, simplest answer is something you spray on. A muscle cramp at 2 a.m. does not need a capsule that takes forty-five minutes to absorb — it needs transdermal magnesium that gets into the muscle tissue in minutes. A hike in tick country does not need a chemical repellent — it needs the right essential oils in the right base. This collection is where I put the ready-to-use solutions I kept recommending over and over in practice.

Each of these was built around a specific problem with a specific mechanism: transdermal mineral delivery, essential-oil scent disruption for insects, astringent-base skin absorption for facial care, and aromatic barrier action for odor control — simple, direct, and formulated with ingredients you can read.

What's inside

  1. Magnesium Cramp Relief Spray— 1,000 PPM magnesium chloride with potassium chloride, absorbed directly through the skin for fast muscle support.
  2. Botanical Bug Off Outdoor Spray— seven-oil blend in a witch hazel and apple cider vinegar base (double duty as a skin refresher).
  3. Natural Tick & Insect Repellent Spray— citronella, tea tree, peppermint, and MCT oil for longer adherence.
  4. Nourishing Facial Oil— organic castor oil, fractionated coconut oil, and organic frankincense for moisture and inflammation support.
  5. Natural Bathroom Odor Eliminator— orange and lemon essential oils in distilled water, no synthetic fragrance.

These products support healthy skin, comfortable muscles, and a cleaner home environment without synthetic chemicals. Patch test before broader use if you have sensitive skin. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Always consult your healthcare provider before beginning any new topical regimen, especially during pregnancy or if you have a skin condition.

Understanding topicals

Why some compounds work better through the skin than through the gut.

Not every supplement belongs in a capsule. Magnesium, certain pain-relieving plant compounds, and skin-active oils all reach their target faster and cleaner via transdermal delivery.

  • Transdermal absorption

The skin is permeable to small, lipophilic molecules. Magnesium chloride, methyl salicylate, and menthol all cross the stratum corneum to reach underlying tissue directly.

  • Formulation purity

Carrier oils matter as much as actives. We use cold-pressed jojoba, fractionated coconut, and rosehip — never mineral oil, never seed oils prone to oxidation.

  • Bioactive compounds

Peppermint, wintergreen, eucalyptus, and frankincense each contribute specific actives — menthol, methyl salicylate, 1,8-cineole, boswellic acids — that work locally on skin or joints.

  • Topical vs oral

For localized pain, leg cramps, or skin issues, topical wins on speed and avoids gut side effects. For systemic conditions, oral still has its place. Most patients use both.

Why this collection exists

"For nighttime leg cramps, transdermal magnesium converts skeptics in a single night."

I've seen too many patients struggle with oral magnesium — bloating, loose stools, or simply not feeling the benefit. The skin is the cleanest route for it. Spray on calves before bed, wait fifteen minutes, and most people sleep through the night for the first time in months.

The same principle applies to the rest of this collection. Localized pain wants localized treatment. Skin wants oils, not lotions full of fillers. And when you can avoid swallowing something to get a benefit, that's almost always the better engineering.

Common questions

Topical sprays & skin oils — common questions.

Why use transdermal magnesium instead of an oral capsule?

Oral magnesium has roughly 30% absorption and is famous for a laxative effect at therapeutic doses — which means many patients can't tolerate enough to actually correct a deficiency. Transdermal magnesium chloride bypasses the gut entirely and reaches muscle tissue in minutes. For nighttime leg cramps, restless legs, or post-workout soreness, it's the cleanest and fastest route. Many patients combine both — oral for systemic levels, topical for acute episodes.

Will the magnesium spray sting or itch?

About one in five patients notices a mild tingle when they first start using it — usually a sign of low magnesium levels in the muscle. It fades within a few minutes and disappears entirely after a week of regular use. If it's uncomfortable, dilute the spray 50/50 with distilled water for the first week.

Can I apply the pain blend oil directly to skin, or do I need to dilute it?

The Pain Relief Oil Blend is already pre-diluted in a carrier oil at a safe topical concentration — ready to apply directly to sore joints, lower back, or tight shoulders. No further dilution required. Pure essential oils sold separately do need dilution before topical use.

Is the bug repellent really effective without DEET?

Yes — though the application cadence is different. DEET lasts 6–8 hours on a single application. A well-formulated essential oil repellent (lemongrass, citronella, eucalyptus) lasts 2–3 hours and needs to be reapplied. The trade-off is no neurotoxin concerns and safe use around kids. Most patients prefer it for routine yard time and travel with DEET for true wilderness exposure.

Should I use the facial oil morning or night?

Either, though most patients prefer night. The blend is cold-pressed rosehip and jojoba — both non-comedogenic and absorbed within minutes. A few drops after cleansing supports skin barrier repair while you sleep. If you use it in the morning, apply before sunscreen, not after.
