Pain & Inflammation
A note from Dr. Schrock

"Doctor, what can I take for this pain?"

For forty years in practice, that was the most common question I heard. Patients came in with joint stiffness, muscle aches, chronic inflammation, and the growing sense that NSAIDs were no longer an acceptable long-term answer — and the research is catching up to them.

This collection brings together the formulas and essential oils I built for those conversations. Every product here supports one or more of the four pathways that drive chronic pain: systemic inflammation via Turmeric and Boswellia, connective tissue repair via MSM, nerve irritation via Quercetin, and muscle tension via topical Peppermint and Wintergreen. Most patients do best with a stack that hits more than one pathway.

What's inside

These products support a healthy inflammatory response and help maintain comfortable joint and muscle function. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Always consult your healthcare provider before beginning any supplement regimen.

Understanding inflammation

The four pathways that drive chronic pain.

Most pain supplements pick one mechanism. Ache Help works on four at once — which is why patients feel a difference where single-ingredient formulas fall short.

  • Systemic inflammation

Cytokines and prostaglandins drive whole-body discomfort. Best targeted with Turmeric and Boswellia.

  • Connective tissue

Cartilage and tendons need sulfur to repair. MSM is the natural sulfur source.

  • Nerve irritation

Inflamed nerves amplify pain signals. Quercetin supports prostaglandin balance.

  • Muscle tension

Tight muscles compress joints and nerves. Topical Peppermint & Wintergreen oils ease the loop.

Why this collection exists

"NSAIDs work, but they're not free. Your gut, kidneys, and cardiovascular system pay the toll."

Forty years of practice taught me one thing: nobody wants to be on Advil for the rest of their life. These formulas are how I helped patients ramp down — gradually, naturally, and with their healthcare provider's full sign-off.

Start where you are. Most people pick up Ache Help first. The braver ones go straight to the protocol bundle. Either way, give it 30–60 days and pay attention to your body.

The anti-inflammatory ingredients behind these formulas

Common questions

Pain & inflammation — common questions.

What's the difference between turmeric, boswellia, and willow bark for pain?

Turmeric supports the NF-κB pathway — best for whole-body, slow-onset inflammation. Boswellia targets 5-LOX — better for joint stiffness specifically. Willow bark is the closest natural cousin to aspirin (it contains salicin) — it's faster-acting but more "intervene when it hurts" than "build a foundation." Most patients combine the slow + fast approaches, which is why Pain Freedom Protocol stacks all three.

Will it interact with my medications?

For most patients, no — these formulas use natural ingredients with strong safety profiles. The exception is anyone on blood thinners (warfarin, Plavix, daily aspirin), where Turmeric and Quercetin can mildly affect platelet function. Always consult your prescribing physician before adding supplements to an existing medication regimen.

Can I take these alongside ibuprofen or prescription pain medication?

For most patients, yes — natural anti-inflammatories work on different pathways than NSAIDs and don't usually conflict. Always loop in your prescribing provider before stacking, especially if you're managing a chronic condition.

How long until I feel a difference?

Most patients report meaningful change at 30 days and full effect at 60–90. Anti-inflammatory supplements work by saturating tissue over time — they aren't symptom blockers like NSAIDs. Take curcumin with food (it needs fat to absorb).

Should I take a capsule, an oil, or both?

Capsules build a systemic foundation — they reach every joint and tissue through the bloodstream. Topical oils give faster, localized relief at the site of pain. Most patients use both: capsules daily, oils as needed during flare-ups.
